Buckalew Bog and Jamesburg Restoration Projects

Wetland Creation

Jamesburg Natural Area, including Shekiro Ponds and Buckalew Bog, represent an impressive holding of public lands with Pinelands and bog habitat in Helmetta, NJ. Between 2018-2024, GTA, in coordination with the Middlesex County Department of Recreation and Parks and the New Jersey Wetland Council, is restoring over 23 acres of abandoned cranberry production impoundments to native bog and white cedar wetland habitat.

ABOUT US >

Green Trust Alliance (GTA) is a nationally accredited land trust and public charity strongly dedicated to accelerating large scale conservation, preservation, and public lands access efforts in the Mid-Atlantic region. To accomplish this, we work with industry leaders, nonprofit partners, and public agencies to identify important public and private properties in our conservation focus areas. In these areas, we use a multi-scale, multi-project approach to create a suite of community and ecological benefits where people live, work, and play, and to ensure long-term active stewardship of these lands and parks.
