Rachel Dawson, Mid-Atlantic Conservation Leader, Joins GreenTrust Alliance Board of Directors

Elkridge, MD

GreenTrust Alliance (GTA), a Mid-Atlantic regional leader in innovative land conservation and restoration strategy, finance, and implementation, announced this week that Rachel Dawson, a well-known conservation finance and policy leader in region, joined its Board of Directors.

Ms. Dawson manages a large fund for Delaware River restoration projects as a director at the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) in Washington, DC. Her focus has been program development, partner coordination, and growth in funding capacity. Prior to joining NFWF, she provided conservation-focused legislative expertise to the National Wildlife Federation, Northeast Midwest Institute, and Ducks Unlimited for over 15 years of policy and appropriations work focused on water quality, ecosystem restoration, and Farm Bill conservation provisions.

"Rachel and I have worked together in Chesapeake and Delaware Bay restoration issues for 15 years; and in that time Rachel has really become a force to be reckoned with in terms of her ability to pull together complex partnerships for landscape-level restoration initiatives,” said Kirk Mantay, GTA’s Executive Director. “Having her in a board oversight role is going to help accelerate our continued emphasis on large scale land protection and restoration projects." Ms. Dawson’s board service emphasis will be within her strengths – urging the GTA staff and board to expand our existing strategic partnerships and accelerate the speed and scale of work GTA performs with conservation partners throughout the region.

ABOUT US >

Green Trust Alliance (GTA) is a nationally accredited land trust and public charity strongly dedicated to accelerating large scale conservation, preservation, and public lands access efforts in the Mid-Atlantic region. To accomplish this, we work with industry leaders, nonprofit partners, and public agencies to identify important public and private properties in our conservation focus areas. In these areas, we use a multi-scale, multi-project approach to create a suite of community and ecological benefits where people live, work, and play, and to ensure long-term active stewardship of these lands and parks.
