GTA Applies for Land Trust Accreditation

March 16, 2021
Elkridge, MD

Public Notice

The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Green Trust Alliance (GTA) is pleased to announce it is applying for accreditation. A public comment period is now open.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. Green Trust Alliance’s mission of expanding and accelerating land conservation and habitat restoration practices in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the United States would be bolstered by accreditation, and demonstrate the lengths to which GTA operates thoroughly and transparently as a non-profit conservation organization in the land protection and stewardship community.

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how GreenTrust Alliance complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.

To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org, or email your comment to info@landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be faxed to (518) 587 - 3183 or mailed to:

ABOUT US >

Green Trust Alliance (GTA) is a nationally accredited land trust and public charity strongly dedicated to accelerating large scale conservation, preservation, and public lands access efforts in the Mid-Atlantic region. To accomplish this, we work with industry leaders, nonprofit partners, and public agencies to identify important public and private properties in our conservation focus areas. In these areas, we use a multi-scale, multi-project approach to create a suite of community and ecological benefits where people live, work, and play, and to ensure long-term active stewardship of these lands and parks.
